I would like this too. There are custom fields I think of later that are more important than the fields I've already created that I need at the top.
Also, I'd like to be able to group similar fields by reordering them.

@Kevin, please can you consider taking this up the development ladder? Reordering custom fields is important because sequence matters, and as we learn to better use Dex, we may add new custom fields that need to be placed well on the every-day contact page. Critical in my view.

Remain hopeful that this change request to allow custom fields to be reordered will soon find its way out of the "uncategorized" bucket and into that wonderful "Planned" bucket of change requests. :-)
Custom Fields are a great way to capture more information about your contacts, fields that are relevant to you. Whether you are capturing the 66 questions the famous Harvard MacKay would ask every client, or some basic fields that you care about (relationship strength, relationship importance, and so on) - custom fields help you to customize Dex for you and your network.

Once created, Custom Fields cannot be reordered, unless you want to delete them and recreate them in the right order. However, that means you lose any data that you already entered into those fields. To me, custom fields is when Dex really goes to work for me, and the reordering of the fields would improve my workflow (because recreating the fields in the right order is not so attractive). Thanks for considering.
